10 September 2018

As always, result day was a day of celebration at Aga Khan Education Service, Pakistan (AKES,P) as our students clinched six top-scoring positions in the Aga Khan University Examination Board from across Pakistan.

The Aga Khan Higher Secondary School, Karachi retained its position as the most successful of all AKES, P schools with four top-scoring positions.

Fareeha Hashmi, who got the second-highest overall score in the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) exams in Pakistan is looking forward to carrying on her success as she plans to start a degree in medicine. “Life is about second chances,” said Fareeha, overjoyed at having recovered the position she lost in her Secondary School Certificate (SSC) by just one mark. Far from losing courage, she said she tried even harder this time around.

Alina Fatima, who won the third-highest overall HSSC score in Pakistan as well as third position in Pre-Medical, has been a consistent high achiever. In her SSC, she had stood first in overall scores in Pakistan. Last year Alina won the Summer Sisters Exchange Programme scholarship to Brown University in the USA.

Also from AKHSS, Karachi is Arsalan Akbar Ali who won the second-highest score in is HSSC Commerce Group. Having graduated from higher secondary school with flying colours, Arsalan now plans to study chartered accountancy. He credits his school with playing a big role in his achievements. “The hardworking, experienced and qualified teachers, along with the excellent management, have helped me excel. I can truly say that I am a proud AKHSS student.”

Tosif Ghazi from AKHSS, Gahkuch won second position in HSSC Pre-Engineering. Tosif now plans to study civil engineering. He has applied to a number of universities and we are confident that he will get into the programme of his choice. After completing his engineering degree, Tosif plans to join the Central Superior Services of Pakistan, an elite part of the bureaucracy.

Finally, Zohaib Ali from AKHSS, Seenlasht has stood second in SSC examinations, Science Group. Zohaib joined AKHSS, Seenlasht in class VIII and will continue with his higher secondary studies in pre-engineering at the same school. He plans to be a physicist.

The Aga Khan University Examination Board was developed as a rigorous alternative to the national examination boards. Over the past 12 years, more and more AKES Pakistan schools have transitioned to AKU-EB curricula in order to better equip students to enter and excel at tertiary education. Currently 17 of AKES, P’s 51 schools are affiliated with AKU-EB

We wish all five of our high achievers all the best in their future academic pursuits!
