An AKHSS, Karachi Alumnus Wins Scholarship for Study Abroad

04 June 2019

First position holder in Higher Secondary School Certificate, qualified engineer, and now a scholarship winner for a Master’s in Hydraulic and Civil Engineering at the prestigious Institute National Polytechnique de Grenoble (INP) in Grenoble, France.

That’s Hissam Karim, one of the outstanding alumni of the Aga Khan Higher Secondary School, Karachi (AKHSS).

After securing the first position in Pakistan in the Aga Khan University Examination Board’s HSSC examination in pre-engineering group in 2015 — and achieving a near perfect score of 99% in Mathematics — Hissam joined the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) for a degree in mechanical engineering.

Hissam was a recipient of various merit scholarships during his 4 years at NUST, including the Nescom Fellowship Programme, a scholarship which includes the chance to work with Nescom after graduation. But Hissam wanted to continue studying, and instead applied for the General Electric scholarship to do a Master’s degree in engineering.
The scholarship covers all the expenses for a two-year master’s programme and includes an internship in GE Renewable Energy Hydro facilities in R&D and Engineering.

AKHSS, Karachi wish Hissam all the success in his future endeavors!
