Graduation honours and celebrates students’ successes in grand style marking their ‘growth’ on the educational ladder.

It’s a beautiful sunny Saturday especially after experiencing rain and cloudy weather over the past week.  The piano starts with soothing music as a group of 5-6 year old graduates march gracefully down the aisle in their black gowns and black caps complete with red tassel, proudly giving a smile to the audience.  Parents and friends grasp their phones and cameras to catch every minute of the ceremony.  On the screen above begins a slideshow of photos and memorable moments captured during the childrens’ years in Kindergarten.  Inspiring speeches given by two of the graduates Burhanuddin Khanbhai and Prisha Shah, the Head Teacher Mrs. Gokrani and the Guest of Honour Mr. Kerry Ouma Head Teacher Aga Khan Primary Kisumu, kick off the ceremony.

It’s a day that takes every parent down memory lane as they recall their baby entering kindergarten.  “Some clung to parents with tears as they entered the school gate”, recalled Burhannuddin during his farewell speech.  Yet, within a blink of an eye, little ones have new friends, another experience is added and imprinted into hearts and a new beginning, a new story and a new chapter awaits.

Between admission and graduation, many memorable days lie.  The feeling of first entering Nursery becomes a distant memory as each year learners grow in confidence and embrace each other regardless of background. They become unique in their own special way.
