K1 and Playgroup made a trip to the National Museum on the 16th of March 2011 to learn about various reptiles, such as snakes, alligators, fishes and the various species of birds. In addition, they also had the opportunity to learn more about the elephant and giraffe.

The K1 students were able to observe and compar big and small animals hence connecting this to their unit ‘All creatures great and small.’ It was an interesting experience to gather information practically.

This unit has been an entertaining experience for the students as they learnt new concepts regarding the various types of creatures that live around them and their respective habitats. In addition, the students have developed an enhanced sense of responsibility and care towards the environment.

Together with the reptiles, the students also had the opportunity to see ladybirds, caterpillars, spiders, snails and worms. They also identified the number of legs in each creature and learnt new vocabulary such as crawling, walking and flying.
