Junior School Inter-House Sports Day

 The Junior School of the Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa held its annual inter-house sports day on 17 March 2012. After a day of fierce but friendly competition, the Yellow Eagles emerged as the overall winners.

On 17 March 2012, the Junior School of the Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa held its annual inter-house sports day.

The competition was fierce between all the four houses. Students, teachers and parents ran and pulled in a variety of relays, races and a tug-of-war to collect points for the houses. When the points were tallied at the end of the day, the Yellow Eagles emerged the overall winners with 1269 points!

The final points standings were:

·      Yellow Eagles – 1269 points
·      Blue Kestrels – 1220 points
·      Green Falcons – 1214 point
·      Red Hawks – 1198 points.


In the boys’ category, the Falcons edged out the other teams to win the Best Boys Team trophy. The Falcons collected 645 points, ahead of the Eagles with 628, the Kestrels with 618 and the Hawks with 616.

The Eagles took the Best Girls Team trophy with 641 points. The Kestrels were second with 602, the Hawks third with 582 and the Falcons fourth with 569.

The captains of the four houses, together with the house teachers, worked hard to coordinate their teams and promote a healthy competitive atmosphere.

The team captains were:

Yellow Eagles: Omar Bayusuf and Saumya Gupta
Red Hawks: Njau Njuguna and Keziah Seifert
Green Falcons: Sameer Shah and Rose Murphy
Blue Kestrels: Mansur Khan and Mariam Alwy


Everyone – children and adults alike – enjoyed the fun and friendly competition.
