IN THE MEDIA: Aga Khan School Upgraded to Higher Secondary Level

18 January 2018

Intermediate level classes at the Aga Khan School Meragram will start in the new academic year in 2018. The school will now provide continuous education from pre-primary to higher secondary.

Young women will now be able to continue their education close to home after Aga Khan Education Service (AKES) official Ali Dana Khan held talks with local community members to upgrade the school to the higher secondary level. The area deeply appreciated the news and thanked Abdul Nasir Khan, AKES Chitral general manager, for this initiative.

The Aga Khan School, Meragram is over three decades old. The school started in 1982 as a primary school with an initial enrolment of 56 students in a Jamatkhana with a single teacher. It was upgraded to a middle school in 1991, and later the community initiated a high school in 2004. The school now serves almost 300 students, 47% of which are female.
