The Aga Khan School, Ovirk is over three decades old. It started as a primary school in 1980 with an initial enrolment of 77 students in a small garden with a single teacher. In 1985, it was upgraded to a middle school and then to a high school in 1990.

The school teaches an enhanced version of the national curriculum, and is affiliated with the Peshawar board of examination (BISEP). It also offers the Aga Khan University Examination Board affiliated Middle School Programme.
The school offers professional development to all its staff, taking place once a month for 6 hours each, totaling 72 hours per year.
