Aga Khan Education Service, Tanzania triumphs at Morogoro International School Invitational Swimming Gala
The Aga Khan Education Service (AKES), Tanzania is proud to announce a spectacular victory at the prestigious Morogoro International School Invitational Swimming Gala on 6 and 7 October 2023.
The schools’ swim team displayed remarkable skill and determination, securing the title of ‘Overall Winner’ in both the boys’ and girl's categories, claiming the coveted title of ‘Overall Best Team’.
The Aga Khan Nursery and Primary School (AKNPS), Dar es Salaam and the Aga Khan Mzizima Secondary School (AKMSS), Dar es Salaam clinched a remarkable 53 gold, 33 silver and seven bronze medals, solidifying their dominance in the pool. Among the many highlights of this incredible triumph was the inspiring participation of five-year-old student from AKNPS, Dar es Salaam, Oliver Missokia. Oliver was the youngest swimmer to take part in the competition.
Our students showcased not only their athletic prowess but also a commendable spirit of fair play and sportsmanship during the swimming gala. Competing against their peers, our students demonstrated resilience and determination, representing AKES, Tanzania with grace and skill.
“Going to Morogoro and participating in the swimming gala for the AKMSS, Dar es Salaam team was an incredibly exhilarating experience,” said Grade 8 student, Sahal Harunani. “As a member of the swim team, I am confident that all our swimmers performed at their best, with many of us achieving podium positions. What was truly amazing was that our school emerged victorious among all the competing schools. The Morogoro swimming gala proved to be a fantastic and successful event for our school!”
The victory is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the swimmers, coaches, dedicated parents and the entire AKES, Tanzania community.
